The key to any successful vehicle build is running the right parts. "Right Parts" can mean a variety of things and is entirely dependent on the purpose of your build. However, here at Skunk2 Racing, we are believers that any part used in your build should be of the highest quality and engineered to ensure maximum efficiency and performance.
Components work best when tied with others that are built for the same purpose and more so by the same manufacturer. That is why all products we develop are engineered to operate flawlessly with any other products developed under the Group-A Engineering umbrella.
With that in mind we bring you the Skunk2 Builders Guide!
With the last production run of the famed Honda S2000 in 2009, a small hole emerged in the market for an affordable, lightweight, rear wheel drive Japanese sports car. Subaru and Toyota teamed up, resulting in an exciting new two-door, two-seater, front-engine, rear wheel drive vehicle that made its debut in 2012. Named the Subaru BRZ, Toyota GT/FT86, and the Scion FRS as it was split amongst three brands, the vehicle is essentially the same no matter the nomenclature.
Touted as a modern reimagining of the famed Toyota Corolla Hatchback (AE86) of the mid to late 80's, it features similar characteristics to its predecessor with regards to engine and drivetrain positioning. The new 86 features a Subaru-engineered naturally aspirated, horizontally opposed 4-cylinder boxer engine that pushes 197hp and 150lb-ft of torque. In 2017, this power was pushed up to 205hp and 156lb-ft alongside some miscellaneous aesthetic upgrades.
Taking on a following of its own, the new 86 / BRZ has turned into one of the most popular vehicles to upgrade, modify, and race. Group-A has also taken interest in the platform and offers an entire lineup of high quality performance components to help your car perform at its peak!
